The Holden R-III School District will not be in session on Monday, Feb. 20, due to President's Day.
Ardy Dehdasht has been named the principal for Holden Middle School starting in the 2017-2018 school year. Mr. Dehdasht has served as the assistant principal and A+ coordinator at Holden High School for the past two years. Mr. Dehdasht will replace Dr. Hough who will start his new role as the district’s superintendent July 1.
At the February 13, 2017, Holden R-III Regular Board Meeting, the Board of Education adopted the 2017-2018 Holden R-III School Calendar. First Day of School - August 16, 2017 Last Day of School - May 16, 2018 Fall Parent Teacher Conferences- Oct. 23 & Oct. 26, 2017, 4-8 p.m. Spring Parent Teacher Conferences - Feb. 15, 2018, 1:30-8 p.m. Class of 2018 Holden High School Graduation - May 20, 2018, 2 p.m.
The Holden R-III Board of Education is pleased to announce that Dr. Michael Hough has accepted the position of Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Hough, who resides in the district with his family, is currently the Middle School Principal at the Holden R-III School District and will begin his duties as Superintendent on July 1, 2017.

The Holden R-III School District will conduct its annual kindergarten screening April 6 and 7 at the Forward Community Church, 298 SW 131 Highway, Holden. Appointments are available from 12:00-6:00 p.m. on April 6 and from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on April 7. Children who will be five before August 1, 2017, will be screened by appointment only. Appointments can be made by calling the elementary office (816-732-6071 or 816-850-4444 ext. 3250) beginning March 1.
Four candidates have filed for the three open positions on the Holden R-III Board of Education. Filing closed for Holden R-III Board of Education candidates on Jan. 17. Join us in celebrating Holden High School’s rich tradition of exceptional education by nominating a distinguished individual/team for the Holden High School Hall of Fame. Finalists will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in the fall of each year.
The Holden R-III School District is excited to distribute Chromebooks and MacBook Airs to students in grades 3-12 to use for educational purposes during the academic year. The purpose of our 1:1 initiative is to put current technology into the hands of all students to help enhance, personalize, and further develop our academic program. The Holden High School Distinguished Alumni Selection Committee invites you to nominate candidates for the Holden High School Distinguished Alumni. This award honors and recognizes alumni who exemplify the values, the tradition, and the successes of Holden High School. Their accomplishments will inspire and encourage Holden High School students to do the same. The 2017 inductees to the Holden High School Distinguished Alumni will be recognized during the Holden High School Graduation Ceremony on May 21, 2017, at 2 p.m.
Through their daily activities that are important to the children (writing in their journals, etc.) the children will develop all their necessary pre-kindergarten skills and more!
